The press release is dated May 27, 2011.  The headline is: McDonald’s Awards Grant Through Ronald McDonald House Charities Awards to Support Local Youth Educational and Entertainment Program.

The quote from the Grant Committee member:
“Bubbles The Clown is an educator as well as an entertainer.  He provides entertainment of life skills and cognitive thinking regarding money spending in a fun and interesting way,” says Mitchell McPherson, Baltimore McDonald’s Owner/Operator and RMHC Grant Committee member.  “RMHC Baltimore awarded this grant to Bubbles The Clown because we believe in the organization’s financial literacy program and the importance of educating Baltimore’s underprivileged youth so they can make practical financial decisions during these challenging economic times.”

Note: RMHC is the acronym for Ronald McDonald House Charities.  According to the press release, The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children...These grants are funded by McDonald’s and owner/operators of local McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Baltimore area and on the Eastern Shore.  Global Ronald McDonald House charities also matches a portion of these donations.

"At my child's school, Bubbles The Clown provided a financial literacy program. He was really good! I had not seen the topic of money management presented to kids they way that he did it. The magic words for each magic trick were, "save money." There was a wide age range at the program I attended. The kids were from 5 to 11 years old. Bubbles The Clown had the children help him make the magic work. They enjoyed that. At the end of the show, when Bubbles asked the children what they had learned, they yelled, "saving money."
